Illywhacker Summary:

The novel tells the events of that time as narrated by Herbert. The narrations also contain stories of people he meets and how his life changes with the times changing and the current circumstances. In 1919, Herbert lands a plane into the farm of a rich man, Jack whom he convinces to open an airplane factory. They become friends and Herbert also develops a relationship with Jack’s daughter.

Jack commits suicide due to some argument between an investor and Herbert. Later, Herbert marries Jack’s daughter and has two kids. However, she leaves him after learning how to fly his plane and goes to live with her ex-lover Janette who was also her teacher once. The rest of the story narrates incidents from Herbert’s life and that of his children.
