Kaladin is the main character of this book. Basically, he is the slave of the royal family but because of his notable skill of swordsmanship crown prince hires him as a protocol officer. This time whole kingdom is in trouble because of uncountable threats. Especially the royal family is the hot target now Kaladin is bodyguard and protocol officer at the same time so whole responsibility of security is on his shoulder. Kaladin’s enemies think this is the last week of his life because if someone trying to assassinate the sitting king or crown prince then Kaladin is the first target. But on the other hand, Kaladin was fully motivated for protection and he is good at his job. And because of this job his all life was changed before this he is the slave and working hours and hours in a salt mine.
