All Quiet on the Western Front was published in November and December of 1928 infamous German newspaper Vossische Zeitung. It was published in the form of the novel in the year 1929. All Quiet on the Western Front and its sequel The Road Back written in 1930 were banned and burned by the Nazis in Germany. The novel was sold about 2.5 million copies in 22 different languages in its first 18 months after its publication. The book was adapted for the film directed by Lewis Milestone and won Academy Award in the year 1930. All Quiet on the Western Front was again adapted for film by Delbert Mann in the year 1979.
